Hopalong Cassidy is a fictional cowboy-hero created in 1904 by Clarence E. Mulford. The character appears as a rude, rough-talking 'galoot' in the original stories. Beginning in 1935, Hopalong, played by William Boyd, was transformed into a clean-cut hero in a series of 66 immensely popular films, leading to a comic book series modeled after the films.

On June 24, 1949, Hoppy became the first network Western television series, airing on NBC. The shows were initially fashioned from the films, with Boyd receiving a quarter-million dollars for the TV rights. The series starred Boyd alongside Edgar Buchanan as his sidekick 'Red Connors'. The theme music was composed by Nacio Herb Brown and L. Wolfe Gilbert. The show ranked number 7 in the 1949 Nielsen ratings.

The Mutual Broadcasting System began airing a radio version of Hopalong Cassidy in January 1950, which later moved to CBS Radio until 1952.

The ZIP File only covers the big 12 MB episode (Track 2), which is also what the Flash player shows. The Flash Player doesn't see the other tracks & the ZIP file apparently doesn't include them either. This needs to be re-packed.

Hopalong Cassidy

Hopalong Cassidy is the quintessential example of the old western genre. In all of the series, movies and elsewhere, Hopalong always won. The good guys prevail and the bad guys lose. What a great example for anyone to follow in modern times! When all things in real life seem to be out of control, drift back to a simpler time in life when the path was clear. Hopalong Cassidy, and the adventures provided here always bring the soul and mind back to better things.

Many shows play OK except for changes in sound levels. Need to edit some shows, though. The recordings skip, like in Death Paints a Picture and the one after that.
