WROW Aircheck of 1957-11-17 (Old Time Radio)

This is an aircheck of WROW-AM in the Albany, NY area from November 17, 1957. Airchecks that have full recordings of multiple programs, network and local ads, and news are rare. The shows included are The FBI In Peace And War "Jail Bait" which includes a Bob & Ray commercial for Johnson's Back Plaster, Tony Bennett for Four-Way Cold Tablets and a commercial for Fitch Shampoo. The Ford Road Show with Rosemary Clooney, who sings "Love and Affection" Local Six O'Clock news WROW, NY with Dan Nelson Indictment ADA Ed McCormack investigates the murder of Delores Reyna; the case is made difficult by a false confession Gunsmoke show number 293, "The Queue" Chen Wong has been harassed by Rab and Braeden when they steal his pigtail; includes a 4-Way Nasal Cold Tablets with Basil Rathbone, and commercials for Haley's M-O and Shinola It is likely that this recording originated with Mr. Pat Rispole who lived in the WROW listening area near Albany, NY. He died at 53 years old in 1979. His home recordings in the late 1950s and 1960s are the reasons that many Yours Truly Johnny Dollar, Gunsmoke , and Suspense survive from that era, but also many NY baseball games (Dodgers, Giants, and Yankees, and later Mets) from that period as well. Luckily, Rispole traded his recordings heavily with other OTR fans, so they survived the ebbs and flows of collecting interest among collectors since he passed away.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.

An Interesting Slice of The last Days of Radio

radiorick62
This is an interesting piece of what was to be the end of the days of the era of radio for entertainment because more people were turning to television and radio would soon be changing to music and news. By late 1950's this station would be making the change to a music format itself so this collection is a good piece of radio history.
