Reviews

Fascinating culture; Good reader

(5 stars)

An early work on Japan, Hearn's impressions have a sense of freshness and novelty, compared with his more interpretive later writings. The emphasis on the Izumo region also stands out. The reader is especially good with the many Japanese names.

excellent reader but found the content a bit tedious

Beautiful reading, sentimental and interesting tale

A wonderful journey into the culture of Japan through the eyes of an open minded person
