The Goon Show
The Goons

The Goon Show (1950s): Ultimate Goons 151 Episodes of a madcap British radio comedy, starring Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan and Harry Seacombe. Anarchy rules, okay? Sellers and Milligan basically gang-up on their simple-minded victim, Neddy Seagoon, each week, in a surreal series which obeys no rules and freely subverts all logic in order to get laughs. A zany series, based on crazyness. Funny voices and off-the-wall sound effects punctuate a plot which has little or no logic, is intentionally unreal, and is interspersed with crazy character-based comedy and crazy puns.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.

This is brilliant. I spent many hours recording Goon Shows onto cassette tapes when they were being broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Commission , back in the 1960s and 70s. There have always been missing episodes, many were obviously considered unsuitable for tender Australian ears. The first on the list, 1985, a good example. Never heard it before. But here they all are !! Thanks.

From the original radio broadcasts I listened to as a child I have remained a devout fan. Whilst I have many of the shows, some are very poor and others are missing. I an hoping that all of these will be better quality and I know there are some 20+ that I don't have, so am looking forward to enjoying these over the coming months. Jolly well done to the compiler who uploaded them, may you never run out of 'Backstage Brandy'.
Very nice collection; one item misidentified

So much here to savor! Thanks much! Note that the file identified here as from Series/Season 1 entitled "The Crazy People" is actually the untitled 3rd episode from Series/Season 2 that aired on Feb. 5, 1952. The script for this episode exists and matches the audio of this file. There are presently no surviving recordings from Series/Season 1.
