The Goon Show

(4.6 stars; 16 reviews)

The Goon Show is a madcap British radio comedy that aired in the 1950s, featuring the comedic talents of Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, and Harry Seacombe. This zany series is known for its anarchic humor and surreal plots that defy logic, delivering laughs through absurdity and chaos.

Each episode follows the antics of the simple-minded Neddy Seagoon, who becomes the target of Sellers and Milligan's comedic schemes. With funny voices and off-the-wall sound effects, the show is a delightful mix of character-based comedy and outrageous puns, making it a unique listening experience.

YING TONG IDDLE I PO

(5 stars)

This is brilliant. I spent many hours recording Goon Shows onto cassette tapes when they were being broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Commission , back in the 1960s and 70s. There have always been missing episodes, many were obviously considered unsuitable for tender Australian ears. The first on the list, 1985, a good example. Never heard it before. But here they all are !! Thanks.

at least 1 episode missing

(2 stars)

Nice to have so many episodes all in one place. But at least 1 episode is missing: S05E07 Lurgi Strikes Britain. Also the audio bitrate is very low; it'd be great to have less heavily-compressed audio on these gems. You might edit the page to note the missing episode. (There may be more, I haven't checked thoroughly.)

Very nice collection; one item misidentified

So much here to savor! Thanks much! Note that the file identified here as from Series/Season 1 entitled "The Crazy People" is actually the untitled 3rd episode from Series/Season 2 that aired on Feb. 5, 1952. The script for this episode exists and matches the audio of this file. There are presently no surviving recordings from Series/Season 1.

Lifelong Fan

(5 stars)

From the original radio broadcasts I listened to as a child I have remained a devout fan. Whilst I have many of the shows, some are very poor and others are missing. I an hoping that all of these will be better quality and I know there are some 20+ that I don't have, so am looking forward to enjoying these over the coming months. Jolly well done to the compiler who uploaded them, may you never run out of 'Backstage Brandy'.
