Of the twelve series of McLevy it is impossible to select a favourite series never mind episode, undoubtedly the most poignant was the very last episode. (No spoilers) The fact that the writer of the series David Ashton, (who plays McLevy’s Superior) had Inspector McLevy’s own memoirs of his life as an Edinburgh police Inspector to draw on, adds gravitas (if it were needed) to the series. As an avid listener to audio dramas (I have no television) this series truly brings to life the atmosphere and sounds of Edinburgh at that point in history. Brian Cox playing McLevy is more recognisable starring in many a Hollywood blockbuster including the Jason Bourne films, But it is in McLevy surely, that he brings a Scottish historical figure back to life for our listening pleasure.
