Bernard Da Costa Brummell Abroad
Bernard da Costa and David Buck
Brummell Abroad by Bernard da Costa, translated and adapted by David Buck, explores the life of George "Beau" Brummell, a dandy and favorite of the Prince of Wales, who was known for his impeccable dress and personal hygiene. After a rift with the Prince and to escape his creditors, Brummell fled to France in 1816, where he lived in increasing poverty until his death in 1840.
This play imagines Brummell's life in exile, showcasing his creed of elegance even in dire circumstances. Directed by Michael Fox, the production features a talented cast including Trevor Peacock, Donald Gee, Peter Undford, Madeline Smith, Auriol Smith, Stephen Garlick, Stuart Harrison, and Sue Broomfield.
