great story but short

(5 stars)

i think this could be a great book if it wasn't so short , or maybe it's Mark,s fault because he's a such a great narrator that even books of 8-9 hours long just fly-by 🖖👽 thanks Mark, hope you will surprise us with new titles soon, i started listening the one i heard before 😄

I enjoyed most of the story and the narration was great.

But the ending...

Shades of 28 Days Later and I Am Legend

[Spoiler Free] Fun little short story about four individuals who wake up in an abandoned Chicago. There was actually a surprising amount of character development for an hour long story. A quiet lonely and desperate woman, an unrepentant criminal, a prostitute strung out and burned out on life, and our main character, a fillanderer and good-time Charlie. Despite the unhinged ranting of the lunatic below, this story isn’t about “the male fantasy” or misogynistic tropes. Are the female characters tragic? Yes. Both are broken and desperate people, one because she is lonely the other because she keeps too much company (wink wink). Are the male characters chivalrous and perfect? No. One is abusive and our hero is slow to act when good conscience should have called him to, but both find a shade of redemption in the end. 8/10 recommend for a quick listen. Mr. Nelson, as always, is wonderful in his rendition.

Misogynistic tripe

Obviously written by a man. The only function or drive female characters have is sexual abuse and weakness. Male characters just as 2D. I listen to a lot of Victorian books and I love a good dystopia, but this was just someone's grotty wet dream with a nod to War of the Worlds.
