fantastic read half way thru.second reader I couldn't stand.

1st half excellent. Could not finish due to narration

(2.5 stars)

The first half was riveting, but after George Kilmer took over reading I had to stop after a few minutes. George has a terrific voice but ruins it by adding unnaturally long pauses every 2 or 3 words. I expect he does it to sound unique, but I expect, drives many listeners away. I'd listen to any book where he followed the writer's punctuation.

engaging characters, story moves along nicely. The narration is well donenarrat…

Western with a Twist

(5 stars)

This is a classic western by genre with the same basic setting, the same stranger falls into a bad town and meets a beautiful upstanding young woman add violence, pugnacious crocked bad guys and a stout, tough, duty bound good guy. However, after that, this one departs from the rest. The author proves an intimate knowledge of Kansas that’s only possible through immersion into family stories of settlement and character types still alive and stubborn in the same fading ghost towns. It’s a knowledge of Kansas not just past but of the past still living. There is little in the way of fantastic about this novel but nonetheless it will keep you riveted. Both of the readers did a seamless job in presenting it.

great yarn. I thought that the reconciliation at the end was a bit fast, but a good adventure.

A good story, but a little wordy. Great job by both readers.
