Sears Radio Theatre - OTR
CBS Radio
Sears Radio Theater was a radio drama anthology series that aired weeknightly on CBS Radio in 1979, sponsored by the Sears chain. The program offered a different genre of drama for each day's broadcast and was often paired with The CBS Radio Mystery Theater during its first season.
In 1980, the program moved to the Mutual Broadcasting System and became the Mutual Radio Theater, continuing to air repeats from the CBS run until September 1980, when a short season of new dramas was presented. The series featured various themed nights, including 'Western Night' hosted by Lorne Greene and 'Comedy Night' with Andy Griffith.
Produced and directed by Fletcher Markle and Elliott Lewis, the series included a talented cast of actors and was known for its ambitious attempt to reinvigorate radio drama.
