The General Mills Radio Adventure Theater

The General Mills Radio Adventure Theater was born from a collaboration between the ad agency Dancer-Fitzgerald-Sample and Himan Brown, the producer-director of the CBS Radio Mystery Theater. The aim was to engage a child audience through radio, as television was becoming increasingly costly and less effective for advertising.

Tom Bosley, known for his role in the kid-oriented series Happy Days, was selected as the host to attract young listeners. CBS produced a total of 52 original broadcasts, followed by 52 repeat episodes. Although General Mills initially sponsored the series, they withdrew their support after the original broadcasts, leading to the continuation of the show as the CBS Radio Adventure Theater.
