Doctor Wortle's School
Anthony Trollope
Read by Angel5
Anthony Trollope’s fortieth novel, published in 1881, concerns a respectable Christian boys’ school whose proprietor unknowingly hires a woman who apparently has two husbands: a devoted English scholar and an abusive drunkard from the American South. The book interweaves a sensitive and realistic exploration of Dr. Wortle’s moral dilemma with a humorous look at small-town gossip and--of course--a romance involving the doctor’s beautiful young daughter. Tell narrators to slow down!
Mick Brown
excellent book but the reading of it is a disaster! For gods sake tell the readers to SLOW DOWN so that we can follow the story! This woman seems to think she's in a contest for Fastest Narrator. Why do they do this?? I've run across another female who does the same thing with Pepys Diaries. Both readers have North American accents, ive noticed, too... Spoiled the book and I abandoned it after a few minutes - just couldn't keep up with the story-line.
Trollope Triumphs Again

Excellent reading! Typically wonderful Trollope. The novel is somewhat shorter than others from Trollope’s pen, but the characters and their interactions are well-developed Definitely worth a listen for those with a taste for Victorian Lit.
Great little sample of Trollope!

I loved this book; it’s like a condensed version of what Trollope can do with his longer novels. The narrator was excellent.

probably a nice story but it is read very fast. How much better it would have been to slow down and let one digest the story.
Most enjoyable!

Great story, characterization and reader...though she would be SUPER if only she would slow down a bit!
Well read!
