It seeks him out – whether it is car thieves, drug pushers, stalkers or nasty teacher – and Elliot is thrust into circumstances that grab him by the apathetic scruff of his neck and give him a good hard shake. He is a highly moral chap (in a selfish kind of way) and when Elliot stumbles over trouble he feels compelled to set things right (in a confused sort of way.) And he generally succeeds (in an amusing and inventive kind of way.)
