Taking shelter Martin Croner has just retired as an inspector at Scotland Yard.  On his way home he is caught by a rain shower. He decides to take shelter with Willard and Jane.  He starts playing the detective  and as a joke fantasizes  a story about some things in  his friend 's house  that could be  suspicious.  Two years later, he still regrets it.
