Love the message

(5 Sterne)

I love both A Lady of Quality and His Grace of Osmonde. FHB has such a way of creating characters that make you want to be like them. Even the characters that are flawed have redeeming qualities and end up striving to be better through either God/love. The pure love that they have for each other is such a beautiful thing to imagine. It's so refreshing to read stories from these times that are about men who actually respect/adore their wives and women that hold men to high standards. Clo is absolutely a character that is both idealistic but relatable at the same time, if you enjoy this I definitely recommend Emily Fox Seaton as your next read, she's a strong woman but in a different more endearing way.

Good Story

(4 Sterne)

A well-built, handsome, gracious, kind, noble nobleman has all the gifts nature can bestow, except for his bride. He hasn't met her yet. But he knows he will meet her someday. And when he sets eyes on her the first time, she is a gorgeous hoyden - the swearing, boisterous tomboy daughter of a profligate, ne'er-do-well lord. But he is patient, knowing that fate and nature will tame her and bring them together. Or will they? Or will his spirited wife-to-be be ruined by the world and by the playboys that would prey upon her? Reader is okay; she is clearly understood, but has strange phrasing at times, and mispronounces some common British words and places.

Romance, Faith & Redemption

(5 Sterne)

Well written and well read. Much more than a typical Romance story; companion and continuation story to"A Lady of Quality". if you like this, the badly entitled "Shuttle" by the same author would please. While an exposition of morals, choices, and consequences; not a sappy sweet and simple religious tale; a more subtle exploration of how freely made choices may affect others in ways we may never understand.

love FHB.....

(4 Sterne)

But, I have to admit, this story is more than a little overwrought. This seems like a classic case of a woman writer not being able to accurately draw a male character. The Duke is highly romanticized and if he is FHBs ideal, no wonder she divorced two husbands. It's still worth a listen, especially if you have heard of read the companion piece.

A good listen!

(5 Sterne)

I think this one is best listened to before A Lady of Quality, the story of Clorinda Wilders... now sure what order was intended but that's my suggestion. Excellent narrator, thank you so much!!

(4 Sterne)

A really great romance. I really liked and admired the protagonists, and found it interesting to see everything from Gerald's perspective after seeing Clo's. The reader was solid.

Love the Francis Hogdson Burnett novels and the narration by Linda Andrus is superbly done. I will be listening to all books narrated by Linda.

Dreadful Narration

(1 Sterne)

I really want to listen to this, but narration is stilted, with weird pauses, and no emotion at all. Can't do it.
