A Superior Reading

(5 Sterne)

Christine Dufour makes a wonderful job of Wilkie Collins' short novel "Miss or Mrs", and reads with real dramatic power and emotion. The story is a delightful lollipop, and the first three chapters are especially well-crafted and dramatic. The only problems I noticed with the perfectly acceptable North American accent was with the pronunciation of a very few English place names, such as "Bideford", "Ilfracombe" etc. I mean to listen to more of Christine Dufour;s recordings.

SHORT AND SWEET

(4,5 Sterne)

The writings of Colllins are so interesting because of his ability to communicate vivid moral pictures of the characters, especially the "bad guys." In this book, Richard Turlington takes his place near the head of Collins' noted villains. As others have stated the reader was excrllent, showing careful enunciation and, more importantly, a leisurely pace which ensures that the listener does not have to strain in order to follow the story.
