Reseñas

Al Jolson is Excellent - a Tremendous Showman!

(5 estrellas)

Al Jolson is featured in his own Kraft Music Hall; as a guest on the Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Eddie Cantor shows; and playing himself in such dramatizations as the Jolson Story on the Lux Radio Theater. The radio shows span the years of the late 1930's through the late 1940's (Jolson died in the fall 1950 of a heart attack after returning from entertaining the troops in Korea). Al Jolson had an excellent singing voice, sense of humor, and excellent showmanship. A very precious collection.

RE: Radio64.mp3

the item, at http://www.archive.org/download/Al_Jolson_OTR/Radio64.mp3, seems to be the on-air Tribute by Walter Winchell. The recording ends with "THE LEGEND NAMED JOLSON", however, a site that sells vintage radio recordings has it listed, presuming it is same program, as "A Man Named Al Jolson." Much of the text can be found at http://jolsonville.com/eulogies/by-walter-winchell/ Perhaps a bit missing from beginning, but a wonderful find.
