good stories

(5 estrellas)

the inquiry below 'havent got a face' is heard here in 'valse triste' at the end. if they did do stories like this these days, they wouldnt be of this quality. the plots, screenwriting and delivery is amazing. gosh i love the visual cues given by the dialogue sometimes its so clever and naturally. tough gig pulling it off. appreciate all the work involved in turning out these episodes and every show similar. great skill. thanks for collecting preserving and sharing these gems that mustnt be lost to time. too much same ol garbage that saturates our lives for real stories to be lost.

Man Oh Man

To think I almost missed this little gem, for shame! This is an awesome collection in and of itself, Lights Out rocks!

Just 1 guy's opinion but here in alphabetical order are a list of 11 candidates for the most memorable Lights Out episodes: "Bathysphere" - Geo. Zucco, Hans Conried underwater cat & mouse "Cat Wife" - Karloff's performance earns its reputation as best ever "Chicken Heart" - the signature show, sheer audacity & imagination "The Dark" - another masterpiece, most horrific of all perhaps "Mungahra" - A+ vocal switch on HGW's "Pollock & the Porroh Man" "Murder Castle" - another, very creepy Oboler milestone "Oxychloride X" - outstanding science fiction premise "Poltergeist" - excellent acting & moody, compelling story "The Projective Mr. Drogan" - unique plot & character "Revolt of the Worms" - the ultimate skin-crawler ""Ugliest Man in the World" - rightly famous, great ending Too many runners-up to mention!! Mention YOUR favorites!!

Why I'm a fan of old radio shows .

(5 estrellas)

I really enjoy the old acting radio shows . It's like the minds eye is opened to envision a thought and to formulate a place or a time . Through the actors tone of voice and objects used to resemble action for creative sound effects. The writing of script is sometimes most impressive . To me it's like painting a picture while some one else is guiding the brush . All a person has to do is follow the story and enjoy the scenery .

Lord Marley episode mislabled

(3 estrellas)

You have listed the Lord Marley episode as Lord Marley's Ghost. It should be "Lord Marley's Guest." It was originally aired in 1944-45 when Benito Mussolini was captured and executed by his political enemies. Arch Obler makes reference to this in relation to the moral of his story in which a philanderer and his mistress meet retribution from a sea monster.

Best show otr horror

Pretty much top of the heap

"Chicken Heart" and "The Dark"

(4 estrellas)

these two files are not from the original radio run, rather they are recreations from the "Drop Dead" album Arch Oboler put out on Capitol Records in the early 1960s. I'd love to hear the original radio shows when they're found. A great recreation of "Chicken Heart", based on the original script, was done by the Gotham Radio Players a number of years ago. BTW, the "Drop Dead" album is worth searching out, as it also contains "A Day At The Dentist", which is one of the scariest under three minute stories ever done, with an eerie turn by Harold Peary.

*Update*Wish the Audio Quality Was Better!

Such a shame because this is a more complete collection than the revival series 'The Devil and Mr. O' that is available here (Murder Castle and several others, for example), but the static and skipping on these recordings is just awful! I hope there's someone out there who can post better versions to replace the ones here. *It seems better versions were uploaded, not all are muffled after 'Cat Wife'.
