Good story but the ever present bed music is just annoying too much of the time. While it often does match the story line it often doesn't. Bed music should not be a cheap thrill in competition with the narration. I can not recommend this audio book even though I ...

1 hr in - the music drove me away. Intriguing story, but the incessant music takes away from the book. (Notice in movies how they use music at climactic moments? ...imagine how annoying it would be if that suspenseful music never stopped.)
stop the music!!!

no really, please stop the music. great book even for an adult to get into. especially if one is familiar with the Sumerian tablets. great reading too, perfect tempo all well and good except that I listen with ear buds under my ear muffs, due to loud machines at work. the music is way too loud, nice touch, making it a whole production thing but soooo loud I sometimes can't make out the words. sorry to be a downer

The story idea is fresh and original. Most of the characters are likable. It bogs down heavily in backsory about halfway through. To the point where it becomes almost unlistenable. The author probably believes it is world-building, but in reality it is almost a study in what not to do when writing. That said, the good points well outweigh the bad and I will listen to the sequel

This is a great audiobook, the plot is great, and despite what the other people have lied.... The music is a great addition to the book, and isn't distracting to anyone with a moderate attention span...

Background music was too loud and anyone saying otherwise must be deaf or hasn't listened to other high production audio books. That should be left to professionals. thankfully his other books corrected that.
