E. Phillips Oppenheim
Gelesen von VfkaBT

Brigadier general Andrew Tallente, late of Parliament, is implicated in the death of his male secretary, the son of a classmate at Eton. Seems the younger man may have not only been having an affair with the hero's American wife, but had stolen incriminating political documents. A political coup of sorts develops as the opposing party invites Tallente to lead them. Enter the lovely heiress-next-door, who becomes the hero's champion, and perhaps, new flame. A LibriVox Listener
Previous commentary have spoken of the tinny or tunnel sound at the beginning of this book. It does make for off-putting start but it does go away. The reader does a good job even if he, like several others, does try to become the characters. His voice is clear and makes no mistakes with pronunciations. The book is true to Openheim's style, taking English times around WWI and almost making them reverent to the present. They are easily read. as well as heard
ONE OF HIS BEST

AVID READER
This is a very interesting look at behind the scenes politics, especially the loneliness of the men who plan and scheme. The recording did have a bit of a tinny sound, but it was not particularly distracting. The narrator was precise in pronunciation and had a very agreeable pace. I have listened to many books wherein the recording was of much better quality, but the narration was barely understandable.
Not good sound

Satyaban
I couldn't get on with the sound but not the readers voice, There was something of a vacancy about the sound in the background. I didn't listen to the story much because by skipping ahead I found the sound on every chapter I checked.
bad recording

Ms. Elizabeth
has a tunnel sound. narrator voice sounds mumbled. darn it, I've been waiting for an Oppenheim story.

Agree, very difficult to understand and gave up which is a shame for the effort
a lot of politics

Terrible sound quality, I gave up on it.
