The Railway Children (version 3)

Gelesen von Kara Shallenberg (1969-2023)

(4.9 Sterne; 82 Bewertungen)

When their father mysteriously goes away, three children and their story-writing mother leave their comfortable life in London and move to a little house, Three Chimneys, in the country. Free to roam the countryside, Peter, Bobbie, and Phil make friends and enjoy adventures in and around the nearby railway station, and wave to the passing train each day, asking it to send their love to Father. There are
no magical adventures in this Nesbit story, but as usual her child characters are so realistic that you feel they are your friends! (6 hr 6 min)

Narration adds to the story

(5 Sterne)

This story is an old favorite. This narration is a new one! The warmth of the narrator's voice adds depth to the story itself.

wonderful children's tale

A lovely story, like Little House on the Prairie in turn of the century England. The narrator did a great job! Thank you!

lovely old-fashioned story ....I love it and the film

Lovely story

(5 Sterne)

First, Kara S. is such a great reader. The story is told from a boys perspective, and I hardly noticed a female was reading. This family made the best of a tragic event and stayed a close knit group. The only part, although humorous, was also irritating comparing boys to girls. The speaker was telling Peter how weak and delicate girls are. This was after one of the girls spent hours inside a completely dark train tunnel. An inspiring tale that would be impossible to repeat now ( 2025)

Lovely reading

We have loved every story read by Kara Shallenburg, and this classic was no exception. Like some older styles, it can be a challenge to read aloud: Kara reads it so beautifully. We delayed finishing because we didn't want to leave the three children and their adventures.

Wonderful Story

Excellent reading by Kara! Heartfelt story of three lively children and their love for family and friends. I loved listening to this story and then enjoyed watching the movie that was also well done.
