Daisy Miller is an 1878 novella by Henry James. It portrays the confused courtship of the eponymous American girl by Winterbourne, a compatriot of hers with much more sophistication. His pursuit of her is hampered by her own flirtatiousness, which is frowned upon by the other expatriates they meet in Switzerland and Italy. The chapters don’t correspond to the paper version. There’s a part missing between the end of part five and part six. The part missing goes from “Daisy turned to Winterbourne, beginning to smile again (...)” to “that she would prove a very light young person”

I usually don't like collaborative readings, but this one had Librivox's top talent and it was excellent. I was shocked at how the book ended because I liked Daisy Miller...and I don't understand the significance of the final sentence. I read that Henry James wrote an alternate ending, in the form of a play, a happy ending. I would have much preferred that one.

Great story, but...

This book fascinated me, especially because I once was with a girlfriend who must have studied Daisy's techniques. Regardless, it's a good story and very well-written. The readers are great, but the reason I have only 4 stars is Chapter 5. That one reader is unbearably terrible; I often found myself thinking it must be a text-to-speech computer program.

I had heard of this book, but had never read it. I enjoyed listening to it very much. I doubt if I would have liked it as much simply reading it. Once again, another great job by the LibriVoxers.

What great effort...May God rewards all of those volunteers whom help us for good study. The speakers were good...I love this novella

but I don't think I'll be reading more Henry James. He seems rather dull.
