Nada the Lily
H. Rider Haggard
Gelesen von Phil Benson

A classic tale of love and revenge set in the Zulu Kingdom of present-day KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. A work of fiction loosely woven around actual historical events, Nada the Lily is unusual in the literature of the British empire for its cast of entirely black African characters. Narrated by Mopo, witch-doctor to the legendary Zulu king, Chaka, and featuring a spectral wolf pack and a cave that becomes a tomb, the novel continues in the spirit of the Alan Quatermain novels that made H. Rider Haggard the best-selling author of the nineteenth century. Nada the Lily was republished in the 1970s as the twentieth volume in the celebrated Newcastle Forgotten Fantasy Library, which included nine of Haggard's works. - Summary by Phil Benson (13 hr 15 min)

what a well written tale

antony lubbe
the story is an awesome and well paced story. unfortunately I couldn't finish it. I will need to read it or find another version of audio book. the reader read well when he forgot to add his emphatic voice shaking, which frustrates me to no end.
Very Well read

Incredibly well read, good pacing, good volume, very good character representation Decent, not very historically accurate story. Very exciting though. For those interested in a history of the rise and fall of the Zulus check out "The Washing Of The Spears" by Donald R Morris.
Wonderful story that I had not come across before.

Don Cocker
Beautifully written and covers part of the history of Africa well worth knowing presented in as an adventure. Phil Benson is a brilliant reader; pronunciation, annunciation and characterisation perfect to my ears.
Dreadful reading...

A LibriVox Listener
Good story which I couldn't finish because of the appalling reading by someone who seems to think that pretending to have laryngitis improves an already poor presentation.
Entertaining story well read
