The Town Traveller
George Gissing
Gelesen von Arnold

The town traveller is himself a British salesman, living in a lower class part of London in the Victorian era. The story depicts his interactions with his neighbors, and thus brings us images and vocabulary of personal exchanges, street scenes and practices of that time and class. The story is generally lighthearted and the action fast paced, although the characters are not at all intricate. (Arnold Banner) (7 hr 11 min)

well read

Adrian Thomas
I dont agree with nope. Yes it's a strong American accent that would jar reading Jane Austen, but not incongruous for this light and frothy tale that could as easily have been situated in Boston. Voice modulation and expression is good and varies with characters. I hazard a guess that reader has also run through the chapter for comprehension before recording. Thank you for your time.
could have been fantastic

nope
absolutely ruined this book, why the heck would you have someone with an extremely American accent read it? Even as a narrator it's ruined it, but what made it worse was the street scenes as if in 1700 London but all I hear is a terrible American voice.
Good reading and story

I agree with Adrian. Arnold does a great job. I'm English and in no way did his gentle accent spoil the reading for me. The story develops in an unexpected way. I really enjoyed it.
