E. M Forster - The Machine Stops

(4.9 estrellas; 22 reseñas)

Dramatized by Gregory Norminton, E. M. Forster's story, written at the beginning of the last century, takes place in a future where people can only communicate through a machine - much like the internet today - and technology has become an all-powerful god. A mother and son's attempts at real communication are the basis for Forster's harrowing vision of a subterranean future.

The narrative features characters such as Vashti, portrayed by Gemma Jones, and Kuno, played by John McAndrew. As the story unfolds, Kuno's rebellion against the Machine's control leads to a profound realization for both him and his mother. The short story, set in a world that may seem futuristic to Forster, reflects themes of isolation and the consequences of over-reliance on technology.
