Blood Wedding is an evocative meditation on fate, war, tradition, passion, and repression, inspired by the true story of a fatal feud between two families in the Almeria province, high in the mountains of rural Spain. This version is adapted by Ted Hughes.
The drama features a talented cast including Carl Prekopp as the Bridegroom/Woodcutter, Sarah Smart as the Bride, and William Ash as Leonardo, among others. Directed by Pauline Harris, it was first broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
Federico García Lorca, a prominent Spanish poet and dramatist, is remembered for his significant contributions to literature and the arts, while Ted Hughes is celebrated as one of the best poets of his generation.
