The Friday Play presents a dramatisation of Ernest Hemingway's masterpiece, The Old Man and the Sea, featuring Academy Award-winning actor Rod Steiger as Santiago, the old fisherman. This gripping tale, set in Cuba, tells the story of Santiago's epic struggle to catch a giant marlin after going 84 days without a catch.

This recording is terrible. Sounds like it was made in London when Germany was flying overhead.

I think people get confused when they haer some of the backgound sounds. I want to clarify th at the sounds are of old time radio programs of the 30s and 40s. I think they need to either edit it better or play yhe full clip then start the naration. They overlap and thst is causing the confusion Otherwise it is well acted.

An excellent reading and worth persevering with. The recording can do with a clean up to remove the tinny background noise. There is a wonderful sculpture of the Old Man at Lanzarote.

The old man and the sea by Ernest Hemingway great book. Great acting kudos to R…
