20120325 TLC Sermon Morris Stuart

Encounters with Jesus - Morris Stuart Sunday, 25 March 2012 Matt 8:5-13 Luke 7:1-10 This encounter is cradled between two sermons (‘on the Mount’ and ‘on the Plain’) and the embrace and healing of a person suffering from leprosy. The sermons and the encounters belong together - Jesus was practicing what he preached. This commanding officer of the Roman occupying power represented a real and present enemy! Yet Jesus, in consistent application of those values expressed in these sermons, was putting ‘love of enemy’ on display. No matter who you are, or where you are in society, Jesus is prepared to reach out to you, whether sinner or sinned against, oppressed or oppressor. The only requirement is faith. Encounters with Jesus are always life-giving, but the new life that these encounters bring will turn your world upside-down and inside out.
