The Island Pharisees
John Galsworthy
Lu par Simon Evers

Richard Shelton is wrestling with his conscience. As a member of the upper class at a time when the British Empire is at its height, he sees beyond the façade of their and his luxurious life. He has become engaged to Antonia and during the course of the book he meets, notices and talks to people from the lower classes and comes to reject the idea that Britain and his own class is good, thus becoming something of a moral outcast.
The book follows his journey and is a scathing satire of life in his time. (Summary by Simon Evers) (7 hr 9 min)

Scott in Sandy Eggo
Simon Evers is absolutely remarkable in his ability to create a playhouse in the mind while one listens to his narration of dialogue in his amazing readings. His depiction of various dialects, accents, and in this novel, class as well as caste systems is something that should be considered as a cultural and national treasure. Thank you Mr. Evers for your dedication to your craft as an artist and providing your talents freely to this public platform. Thank you also for selecting literature that is relevant yet perhaps new for those in this community. Cheers from sunny California.
