(3.7 stars; 17 reviews)

An assorted group of young people gather in a Merchester house to take part in the annual lawn tennis tournament. The summer is extremely hot, tempers are frayed and suddenly one of the inmates dies in her bed. Is the ice-cool doctor really cool or has he assumed the facade to mask a diabolical plot? A murder mystery with more than a splash of psychological leanings. - Summary by Yoganandh T (7 hr 21 min)

Critiques

So far, so good

(5 stars)

Update: I just finished listening to this book. It is well written, a great "who-done-it", and it kept me guessing til the end. I'd like more of the same from this author. The reader kept me engaged the whole time. I still give it 5 stars! Earlier review: I decided to give this book a try in spite of the one poor review. I am 3 chapters in so far, and the book is holding my attention. I have no trouble understanding the reader; I have listened to several of his books. Yes, the cadence is a little different than the way I might read, and an occasional word may be mispronounced, but he does a fine job. The longer I listen, the easier it is to follow along with him. So unless there is a problem with the actual recording farther along, I'm enjoying this book very much! I'll update this review if anything changes.

The mystery kept me guessing. The reader was very good. Thanks for bringing us another mystery!

I am sure this was probably a fine story, but I simply could not understand the reader. The words were not distinguishable half the time and the cadence was off. It was pointless to continue listening. I appreciate the reader’s effort, but I gave up.
