The Northward Course of Empire
Vilhjalmur Stefansson
Gelesen von Leon Harvey
The Northward Course of Empire was written to promote the idea of a new wave of civil expansion into the Arctic Circle, a region generally considered to be invalid for economic development in the mindset of most. Within this volume, the myths of the northern frontier are explained and dispelled, such as how the lands are not perpetually frozen, and that the coastline of the Canadian Arctic can be warmer than the interior of the United States. Many reasons for the untapped wealth of the colder regions are confronted, with suggestions for new means of industry and commerce to be incorporated into the economy of the future. - Summary by Leon Harvey (7 hr 11 min)
