The Mark of Cain
Carolyn Wells
Leído por LibriVox Volunteers

Murder mystery #8 by the prolific American author Carolyn Wells, featuring her famous detective, Fleming Stone (though that detective isn’t brought into the case until it’s almost too late).
The novel features a heroine resisting pressure to marry a man she doesn’t love, detectives and police who keep chasing clues in the wrong directions, a teenage wanna-be detective who’s also an inveterate liar, and a host of other interesting characters, most of whom merely serve to redirect the course of justice until Fleming Stone shows up to set them all straight. (Summary by Winnifred Assmann)
Caution: The book contains some stereotypical racism towards Swedes and Japanese, and Chapters 1, 2, and 21 contain several instances of an offensive and derogatory term to describe Italians. (7 hr 38 min)

Reseñas
Good murder mystery

But I gave up when a new reader appeared, making the various NYC characters into wacky residents of South Carolina or Mississippi. Which was too big an adjustment at that late stage.

This was a little too obvious, but still fun. Fibsy character very engaging. The “heroine” is just awful. Sorry for anyone that would marry her.

Too much filler to make a good story. The only characters that were true was Fibsy and Stone.
