The Black Cat (1895-1922) was a monthly literary magazine, publishing original short stories, often about uncanny or fantastical topics. Many writers were largely unknown, but some famous authors also wrote original material for this magazine.
This is the 12th and last issue of Volume 4, containing the following five stories:
> The Diary of a White Kaffir, by James O. Fagan: the life and death of a man, feared and revered for his peculiarity
> The Bird from Cape Horn, by Frank Lillie Pollock: a young man's knowledge in geology helps him to marry the woman he loves
> The Conjured Plantation, by Zitella Cocke: resorting to a cunning plan to make the plantation prosperous again
> For the Honor of the Cloth, by Evelyn Raymond: a young clergyman has to overcome his fears to save a lost soul
> Eph Follett's Monument, by Josephine Spencer: a soldier realizes he is not welcome at home
