Congress Convenes
por
Elmer Davis and the News presents radio news commentary associated with journalist and broadcaster Elmer Davis. Its focus is the events and public affairs of the day, delivered in the direct, concise style of a news broadcast rather than as a dramatic story.
This recording is identified as “Congress Convenes,” dated January 2, 1940. Davis’s commentary offers a contemporary perspective on the opening of a new session of Congress, placing the subject within the political news of its time.
The appeal is hearing a major public event addressed close to the moment it unfolded. Davis’s measured delivery and the program’s news-centered format make this a compact document of period broadcasting and political discussion.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
