Winston Churchill Speeches

VE Day Celebrations

Ministry of Health Building

English · Radio

Winston Churchill delivers a speech at the VE Day celebrations on 8 May 1945. His address belongs to the public observances marking the end of the war in Europe, with the Ministry of Health Building identified as the setting.

Churchill’s measured, unmistakable delivery gives the recording its focus: a formal public address rather than a dramatized story. Listeners hear a moment of wartime history through the words and voice of the British prime minister, as the country marks victory in Europe.
