Fibber McGee and Molly

Smackout

English · Radio

Fibber McGee and Molly is a domestic radio comedy centered on the blustery, boastful Fibber McGee and his practical, good-humored wife, Molly. Their home life and Fibber’s grand claims provide the foundation for a warm comedy of marriage and everyday mishaps.

The program blends dialogue-driven scenes with recurring comic characters from the couple’s community. Fibber’s schemes and tall tales often meet Molly’s steady perspective, while neighbors and visitors add to the lively household atmosphere. The title “Smackout” suggests a focus on Fibber’s familiar gift for insisting that things are scarce or unavailable.

Its appeal lies in the contrast between Fibber’s confidence and Molly’s affectionate exasperation, delivered through character-based humor and a relaxed domestic setting. The result is an inviting classic radio comedy built around a memorable couple and the comic rhythms of their home.
