Chesterfield Presents

Bidu Sayão and Oscar Levant

English · Radio

Chesterfield Presents is a radio variety program built around featured performers and musical entertainment. This broadcast brings together soprano Bidu Sayão and pianist, composer, and radio personality Oscar Levant, offering listeners a meeting of two distinctive musical talents.

Sayão was celebrated for her expressive operatic singing, while Levant was known for his piano playing and sharp, urbane wit. Their contrasting styles give the program its central interest: a polished vocal performance alongside the lively personality of a musician equally at home in classical music and popular entertainment.

The result is a period variety broadcast with music at its heart and the appeal of hearing prominent performers share the airwaves. It offers a glimpse of the elegant, accessible entertainment that brought concert artists and familiar radio personalities into listeners’ homes.
