The Whistler
The Doctor Prescribes Death
by
The Whistler is a suspense anthology introduced by the Whistler, an unseen narrator whose distinctive, knowing voice frames each tale. The stories center on people caught in dangerous situations, often after a seemingly ordinary choice sets events in motion.
Each broadcast presents a self-contained crime or mystery, building tension through secrets, deception, and the consequences of human weakness. The Whistler’s opening and closing remarks give the program its signature frame, while the drama unfolds through dialogue, sound effects, and a cast of radio performers.
With its shadowy atmosphere and emphasis on suspenseful twists, the series offers classic radio noir: intimate, unsettling stories in which characters may discover that their plans have led them somewhere they never expected.
