Battling his desire for revenge, John also grows into a respectable farmer and continues to take good care of his mother and two sisters. He falls hopelessly in love with Lorna, a girl he meets quite by accident, who turns out to be not only the granddaughter of Sir Ensor Doone (lord of the Doones), but destined to marry (against her will) the impetuous, menacing, and now jealous heir of the Doone Valley, Carver Doone. Carver will let nothing get in the way of his marriage to Lorna, which he plans to force upon her once Sir Ensor dies and he comes into his inheritance". This book is so good I have been so happy to get to read it everyone should have to read it I will read it again and again if I have to😍😍 daisy55 is a really good reader and so is Michelle Harris!!! The switching with readers is a little annoying!! 😐😐 but the storyline and background is great !!!!!!! 👍 Lorna sounds so beautiful and sweet and john ridd is a clumsy romantic man who sounds very kind!! ( probably because he lives in a house all full of women) 😄😄. I love Annie and Lizzie! And gwenny is so funny 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love this book 📚 everyone who reads it should!!!
A good listening to

It is a cute love story that was read well, the change of voices I surprising liked. Fortunately, they have changed the description and only due to my annoyance with the characters and a bit of the plot do I not give it 5 stars.

A very interesting tale. Perhaps a little too much detail, but still worth listening to. The readers did a very good job and it was fun listening to readers from different English speaking countries. I have great appreciation for their volunteering to read.
good book, not as good narrators

The variance of narrators' skill eclipses (for the worst, not the better) the potential beauty of this communal reading, made simply frustrating in the end because of the disparate narration skills.

Female readers with different accents dubbing the male first-person narration of the protagonist, John RIDD, marrs the enjoyment of listening though the novel has a very interesting plot set in a historical background.
