Emerson is a neglected American essayist. His teachings are great, I would think they should be taught in grade school, but I don't think I heard of Emerson until I caught a glimpse of a quote of his on a commercial and looked him up on my own. I guess he is a bit much for public education though in all that he says about man his totality of being and character. America should take pride in having such a profound thinker.
