The Game of Life and How to Play It
Florence Scovel Shinn
Read by Amy Conger
Florence Scovel Shinn, an illustrator living in New York City, became a teacher of New Thought after a divorce. New Thought was a movement which holds the belief that individuals can create their own reality through intentional thoughts and prayer, much like the current Law of Attraction movement. The Game of Life and How to Play It is her first book, and is remarkable for being written by a woman and meant for a genteel female audience. (Summary from Wikipedia) (2 hr 41 min)

I am 45 years old. And this way of thinking, giving and receiving is what I have lived by since I was 13 years old. my Mother introduced my siblings and me to it. I never forgot. My Fiancee and I are purchasing our home in Puerto Rico in February and by My birthday we will be in our Beautiful Home in Puerto Rico; we see flowers, we have successful businesses and we are going to assist the Community. This is so right.

I liked the examples the author gave about how your believes will manifest. On the other hand, the book was very heavy on Christian concepts as opposed to metaphysical concepts that are generic to every religion. It is very possible that I have missed the connection between the title (life is a game) and the content (infinite intelligence and the power to create). Gamification of life (in my mind) seems more consistent with trial and error and weaponizing addiction to good values. I don't see how someone, who believes that there is infinite intelligence and that he could ubite with it, can view life as a game.

This book has opened up the door to the path of my journey on metaphysics. Amy Conger's voice took this book to another level. I hope she does more Florence Scovell Shinn's books. Amy thank you for narrating this book. Many blessings to you.

After reading many of Louise Hay's books, and her references to this book, I am so glad LibriVox carries this book for free and has such a wonderful reader. This book further changed my perceptions and is an amazing read to lift one's spirits. It is astounding that even though it was written over more than a hundred years ago, is still timeless and applicable. Ms. Shinn is pioneer of her time.
amazing narrator, amazing audiobook

Amy is an amazing narrator and this book is absolutely fantastic. Don’t take my word for it, give it a listen. A lot of examples of LOA techniques you can use which work. Be prepared. For it to work you also should drop all inner resistances and let life flow through you.
One of the greats.

I love this book. This is one if not the best books that explains The Law of Attraction. I have read a ton of book about the law. But this is the first I found that includes Jesus Christ and god

This is a necessary, intermediary step between man and the New Testament. The explanations, practical applications, and anecdotes in this book bridge the gap between the theoretical (New Testament) and the practical (daily life). It is the step between the world and heaven. Florence Scovel Schinn was an inspired woman. Affirmations, mantras, karma. These teachings today seem almost eastern in their application of what we call western religion. But Schinn does an excellent job gathering all truths together in one in Christ.
good advice

This is a good review of the power of positive thinking and how we should live with one another. She has a good way of telling us a “rule” of life and then immediately explaining the rule with a “for example “ which makes it easy to follow. There are many biblical references which add to her discussion.
