Reseñas

Wordy and Wise, fairly good narration

(3 stars)

Instead of focusing on one main character, Vol 4. narrates the story of the tenants of the Rue Plumet and its visitors. Not to mention several other passerbys. (The summary does not do it justice) The book itself has both moments of excitement, and slow meaningful transition. Its moments of suspense and mystery keep us on the edge of our seats. However its long tirades of language and relationships keep it from packing as large a punch as Vol 1. The majority of the narrators are very good. And they are all easy to understand. Although character and name prononciation are not consistent between readers Note on the translation: there are long sections of love songs and poems which remain untranslated. Each untranslated section is awkward and fairly useless. I skipped it; its all French to me.

exciting as events move along quickly

the first few chapters are horribly read and boring. but things get to moving along. there are other long chapters (like the ones about slang) that have nothing to do with the main characters and I ended up hitting ?15 a few times. but it gets really good and the reading of the final chapter is awesome (he sings lol). as good or better than volume one. thank u readers!

My favorite volume

original review redacted and revised by me. May Low is one of my favorite readers but for me at least, alas for librivox she has read just a few precious handful of chapters . thanks to all the readers, librivox and internet archive. I have been critical of my fellow american readers. However after much compunction and after a year of listening to librivox(mostly using the IA streaming rather than downloading, because my computer has very little storage left) i have found very good american readers, as good as my preference: british, irish, antipodean and persons whose english is a second language, to be very good at reading english, much better than I could read. I am grateful to all. I am thankful to anyone who volunteers since I cannot concentrate on reading anymore. These free audiobooks are precious and I would encourage anyone who can afford to, to support librivox and internet archive. dahszil male usa I pray for the day in which the US empire is no more, and the US republic is restored, as an equal, peaceful, and cooperative member in the world's family of nations and all peoples on earth as equals. There is only one race and that is the human race. This is a biological fact.

This volume continues Hugo's views on French history.

The readers are very good, although sound quality can vary based on the device used for recording. And on a few occasions, there's some background noise you can detect.

(4 stars)

The work is of course everything it is renowned to be. The readers range from excellent to dismal, but fortunately favours the former.

Very well read

In this book the action begins to unfold. Great job, Librivox Volunteers!

Still good

Same quality/readers as former sections

It's almost over...

Such a great tale, Hugo never fails to surprise me with how consistently good Les Misérables is! The first couple chapters aren't read very well, but don't let the initial negative experience impact your listen, as this book is quite exciting and action-packed. The sections of untranslated stuff are unfortunate, but again, don't let that impact you. Just... listen.
