Mansfield Park

Mansfield Park features Austen’s frailest and perhaps most scrupulous heroine, Fannie Price. As the eldest daughter in a poor family, Fannie is sent to rich relatives when she’s just old enough to fully appreciate the shame of her circumstances. Without pride or prejudice, Fanny sticks to principles in all matters. And matters certainly put her to the test. (Summary by Anita) (16 hr 3 min)

Reseñas

reading sometimes very nerves consuming

(3.5 stars)

We all know the book, unfortunately the reading was sometimes terrible. sleepy voices, no or horrific intonation, wrong reading and pronunciation. ... with all due respect, please, do think of the people who would like to transfer in to the atmosphere of the book. I don't mind mild mistakes, we are all people, but all together is just completely killing the vibe. BUT!!! there were some very talented readers too, they have made it possible to just forget about everything and spend some quality time around Austen's characters

A Jane Austen Gem

I loved this book! You are pulling for Fanny at every point in the story. It also created within me a need to examine my character and inclinations - not that we need to live as in times of old, but in the way that kindness and stability and thinking of others should never go out of style.

Mixed feelings

(2 stars)

The constant change in readers became a little frustrating. And the heavy breathing from readers in some of the chapters leads one to believe they have gone on a long run before sitting down to read.

Couldn't finish it. Too many changes of reader and one of the readers irritated me with how she pronounced certain names. Sorry.

Passable

(2 stars)

Too many readers. Some good, some bad. One (chapter 28's Jennifer) was a mouthbreather who would pause in the middle of sentences. She was awful, I hope they redo this chapter with someone else. Other readers weren't as bad but the American pronunciations of some names and places were really annoying. Some words were also just mispronounced regardless of accents..

A long listen enjoyed with appreciation to all volunteer readers

A variety of readers made this interesting to listen to. The vocabulary used by Austen sometimes provides some pronunciation challenges but the meaning always came through. Most recordings were clear and smooth. The ‘timer’ function worked well. I was very pleased to find this on LibriVox

great, thank you

Very confused about the negative reviews. This was well-spoken, clear and of good quality. Do people forget this is a volunteer service?

Of course the book itself is great. The readers are not always great. Fish tanks, closing doors and voices can be heard in the background.
