A Journey from This World to the Next invites listeners to explore the afterlife through the eyes of a narrator who meets his end in the very first sentence. What follows is a satirical voyage that critiques the follies and absurdities of earthly existence.

In this unique blend of horror, fantasy, and satire, Henry Fielding, renowned for his sharp wit in works like Tom Jones, crafts a narrative that is both thought-provoking and entertaining. As the narrator traverses the realms beyond, he encounters a variety of characters and situations that reflect the complexities of human nature.

Fielding's exploration of life, death, and the moral questions that arise in between offers a distinctive perspective on the human condition. With its blend of humor and philosophical inquiry, this work stands out as a remarkable commentary on society and the afterlife.

Reviews

Great book and great reading

(5 stars)

Thank you to DSayers and gloriana for this reading. It was both humorous and touching. Both of them did excellently well with the voices of the various characters involved. It made me want to learn more about history so that I would know the context of the many historical events that were referenced. It's a shame this book isn't longer, I'd have enjoyed hearing much more from the author and the readers.

Henry Fielding’s satires are both humorous and insightful. I had to brush up on my history for this one but even without it I would have found this book delightful. Well read!
