Commentarii de Bello Gallico (English: Commentaries on the Gallic War) is Julius Caesar's firsthand account of the Gallic Wars, written as a third-person narrative. In it Caesar describes the battles and intrigues that took place in the nine years he spent fighting local armies in Gaul that opposed Roman domination.

The work has been a mainstay in the teaching of Latin to schoolchildren, its simple, direct prose lending itself to that purpose. It begins with the frequently quoted phrase "Gallia est omnis divisa in partes tres", sometimes quoted as "Omnia Gallia in tres partes divisa est", meaning "All Gaul is divided into three parts". readers should practice pronunciation before recording.

Great story, easy to listen to.

Written over two thousand years ago by the man who all but exterminated the Celts, the perspective is fantastic, if also a tool for propagandizing. I love the spare descriptions of the landscape and the isle of Britain in a time when the landscape and its inhabitants were still largely untamed. It begs the imagination.

another great history mangled by poor readers I enjoyed listening to it except for the fact that Morgan scorpion sounds like Elmer Fudd and Tim Garvin has no idea how to pronounce any of the names I wonder if the people who put well read and their comments actually speak English

good stuff

It was sometimes difficult to listen to the guy with down syndrom speak.

Great book

Even if the quality of the recordings from the different readers varies, the book over all is well read, captivating and interesting.

Thank you to the readers. You brought to life the details Ceasar described during the campaign.

Excellent readers - good pronunciation of difficult names Inclusion of a map would have been very helpful
