I can't believe some people think it so horrible that not enough women or minorities are present in an old children's history book, which is free in audiobook format... how about people give a fair review for what is actually in the book, and not their righteous ideas of what should be? I have no complaints with this book.
awesome

It's interesting the difference 100 years can make to an author's interpretation of who is an important historical figure. There were 30 biographies in this children's book, only four of them featured women, and none featured a person of non European heritage. While there was a broad range of contributions these individuals made, I think a modern biographer would place a different emphasis on who was important in American history and who wasn't. The biographies themselves were brief, focusing not just on the individual's achievements but on their childhood too. Today's children should find the writing readily accessible. Thanks to the narrator for a great read.
