They run the gamut from political commentary to our species' need to "be remembered" somehow. Taken as a whole the stories are "whimsical". Taken individually, they speak the truth in different ways. this is a great book made even better by an incredible reader actor John Goodman. he always makes a Twain story that much better. now if I read Mark Twain I hear John Goodman in my head
