An enjoyable whodunit even though I figured out who did it, which I normally don't. I didn't find the storyline to be out there. Excellent reader. All volunteers should be required to sound similar.

Good story, excellent reader

A woman is found murdered in a yellow room. She seems to have no past, and no one knows where she comes from. Detective Gebb is called in to investigate, but he soon learns that this woman is no ordinary person. She was the key witness against a man accused and convicted of murder some years ago. He also learns that the man had escaped from prison and sworn revenge against the woman who testified against him. Is the murder a simple case of revenge, or is something else behind it? I enjoyed this story. It was not a edge of your seat story where I felt like I could not put it down, but it was good and I was looking forward to the next opportunity to listen to it. The reader and recordings were likewise good. Enjoy!

well read, but hokey mystery

this reader always does a fantastic job. easy to listen to. but the story is so hokey, not realistic as another review said. within the first few scenes i figured out who did it and all the twists and turns the writer attempted only confirmed my belief, right down to who the people were and in what relation. such a let down, because the reader was so good i was hoping for an engrossing story. more like a childrens "who dunit". if you are new to mystery novels read this one, if you have read a million of them - like me - then you may want to skip it if you hate figuring out the ending in only the first chapter or two.

Good Story

An interesting murder mystery that holds one’s attention. The narrator is one of my favorites with her beautiful voice tone and exceptional delivery. The only criticism I have is the mispronunciation of the word “gaol” which is an archaic spelling of “jail”. Gaol is pronounced jāl exactly like jail.

Well-told

This book has an intriguing plot, sympathetic characters and one unusual setting. The story unfolds at a steady pace and the reader is excellent. (Unfortunately she wasn't aware that the word "gaol" is a now-obsolete pronunciation of "jail". One or two chapters contain the word extensively.) Recommended!

Great Read!

MaryAnn reads so beautifully (except for puting on a deep voice which she does not need to). One can readily tell charachters just by her clear enunciation and attention to the grammer. An interesting detective "who dunnit" although it was not difficult to decide the perpetrator.

A great, exciting story that keeps moving, & keeps you listening, all the way through. Excellent reading - - except for the repeated mispronunciation of the word "jail" [spelled "gaol", no doubt].

well read story
