A young girl frantically summons a gentleman walking by on the street to come in and help her grandfather. Arthur Outhwaite answers her cry for help only to find himself as the last person to see her grandfather alive and left with the admonishment from the dying man to deliver a letter to someone, and to that person only. Unfortunately, he dies before he can inform Outhwaite who that particular person is. Being in a house of strangers, Outhwaite is thrust into the mystery of not only finding this unknown person, but is also faced with the mysterious circumstances under which the child's grandfather died. Reseñas
Wonderful, entertaining, utterly magnificent.

Johnny Yesterday
Excellent. There is a chapter 35 at the end that is not shown in the list but it will automatically begin to play after chapter 34. Wait for it because it makes the end of the book fantastic.
intricate plot & interesting characters

Songbird7
Typical well-crafted AKG mystery, but the characters are even more interesting than usual, and the plot even more mysterious. Enjoyable read!
Snowed in Again

A LibriVox Listener
All those stars are for the excellent reader whose voice is so pleasant I would gladly listen to her read the LA phone book. As usual, the story seems very long and filled with the moralizing so popular at the time it was written. The solid upright man ends up with the extraordinarily beautiful and virtuous maiden. Unfortunately, the character of Detective Gryce is not fleshed out in this book, making just a cameo appearance.
Great story and fabulous reader

alclubb
This was a well written mystery and love story. I did not have an inkling of the person who committed the crime until the end. And the conclusion of the book made me smile and feel very good. The reader has such a wonderful voice and gave the story the right feelings and perfect handling of the subject.
Another excellent mystery

Tamara
Narration was excellent. Story as befitting time written, has good descriptive and character development. Did not guess the ending and enjoyed the various threads characters followed to conclusions.
