Civil Disobedience (Resistance to Civil Government) is an essay by American transcendentalist Henry David Thoreau that was first published in 1849. In it, Thoreau argues that individuals should not permit governments to overrule or atrophy their consciences, and that they have a duty to avoid allowing such acquiescence to enable the government to make them the agents of injustice. The narrator does an excellent job and the audio is smooth and high quality. I enjoyed Civil Disobedience much more than Walden. Civil Disobedience involves a person's duty to the state and deals with taxes. This should be required reading for high school students.
Why haven't I heard about it before ?

Very good reader, with a nice and easily understandable speaking (thanks to him), for an interesting book. It is funny to see how relevant these ideas still are today.

A practical lesson on dissidents and how the state and federal government treated them during the abolition period from the mouth of Henry David. The reader represents Henry perfect and makes the book entertaining while giving exactly the character that I thought Henry would be. While I don’t agree exactly on Henry’s views their are several moments where he makes good points of what the role of government is in our society and how sometimes that role is an overreach on our independence and liberties. Overall I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the abolition period and the outlook on the impending civil war.

I have struggled to find truly great reading of a text that seem to convey exactly what the writer intended. I'm happy this was one of them. the sound was great, the pauses and intonation were perfect and the Bob's voice has a particular colour that makes you fall in love with it. Thank you!

The absolute best combination of reader and book I have ever bear witness. This gentlemans voice sounds exactly as I would imagine the writer would sound, as if the writer was reading before his ink had dried. I am inspired to re-interperate the text to suit my homeland, if only I could justly.

I would have preferred this text to be read at a slower pace, other than that I enjoyed the audio book, gives an insight into the mind of anarchists and has a very good point as an ending line
