Anne Elliott, Jane Austen's only aging heroine, has devoted her life to caring for her financially irresponsible family. Just when she is growing content with her uneventful lifestyle, a long-lost flame re-enters the picture -- now as the beau of her significantly younger cousin. Anne is now faced with a choice: will she watch Captain Wentworth settle into life with another woman, or will she strive to win back his love and escape her family? Ohmagosh

What can I say that hasn’t been said? No reader was bad enough to make it worse than 5, though unfortunately Debra Lynn wasn’t the best…oh well. I would love more of Tina Tilney please! Any Austen fan will surely love this less known but still beloved classic and it’s the perfect introduction for someone who’s never read her works. This is my tenth time listening to it over the course of one and a half years but like previous listeners have said, “it. Never. Gets. Old. “

I always prefer a British accent for reading British books (I know, snobby, right? ) but this was read, with the exception of one reader, very well. sometimes I could hear sirens or background noise, but it wasn't a big deal most of the time. Thank you for reading it for us!

Would give five stars if I had been able to hear all readers well. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed the variety of reading styles as much as I did. Thank you all.

Lovely book

Always Austen. Lyrical prose, well read. The changing voices and accents are a trifle surreal, but enjoyable nonetheless.

not the best version

the novel is excellent. I prefer the readings by Karen Savage and Elizabeth Klett.

Some good, some bad

(4 stars)

The narration by Tina are wonderful, but Ms. Savage speaks far too fast!

Many good readers...

however, I prefer one voice for a book, usually, for consistency. The exception being a dramatic reading group. Still the differences in accent, audio quality, and skill show when displayed in this fashion. But no one reading was uncomfortable to listen to. If it was the only way to have a free audiobook it was still a decent experience. It is still my favorite Austen novel, even with multiple readers.

Inticed

I find this story to be one of my favorite Jane Austen books. It is captivating in many areas of the story. This story also could have been written for the 21st century. For people never change no matter what year or century you live in.
